Audi Stromlinie 75 Concept revives 1938 Auto Union Type C record car

Design student Luke Rittwage has brought back to life the 1938 Auto Union Type C.

On January 28, 1938, Bernd Rosemeyer passed away while trying to establish a new speed record. His 520 hp (388 kW) car was pushed from the roadway by a gust of wind while travelling at a speed of 429 km/h (266.57 mph). It's been 75 years since the accident and now a modern interpretation based on the original design plans of the Type C has been virtually imagined with an electric R8 serving as foundation.

The vehicle is 4795 mm long, 2000 mm wide and 1090 mm tall, with a 2650 mm wheelbase. It has 18-inch wheels with 235/40 front and 285/35 rear tires. It comes with muscular front and rear fenders, retractable spoiler, a central driving position and "75" logos on the front wheel arches to indicate the time difference between the two cars.
