Mary-Louise Parker may leave acting.

Mary Louise Parker, who stars in two movies opening Friday, told an Australian publication that she's "almost done acting," in part thanks to "bitchy" Internet commenters.

"The world has gotten too mean for me, it's just too bitchy," she told News Corp Australia. "All the websites and all the blogging and all the people giving their opinion and their hatred ? it's all so mean-spirited, it's all so critical."

The actress has roles in both "R.I.P.D." and "Red 2."

"It's sport for people," Parker said. "It's fun to get on at night and unleash their own self-loathing by attacking someone else who they think has a happier life -- or something, I dunno.

It's primarily film work that she plans to cut out. "I don't know how many more movies I wanna do," said the actress, who won a Golden Globe in 2006 for her "Weeds" starring role. "I wouldn't mind doing a TV show again, I'd like to do a couple more plays, but I'm almost done acting, I think."

Despite her interest in television acting, she's not too pleased with the direction the medium has taken. "It's a mean culture," she said. "It's reality TV and it's watching people suffer and watching people humiliate themselves. It's little girls in pageants and housewives and plastic surgery and people in rehab. It just feels like a very ugly ? it's like someone just lifted up a rock and that's all we're looking at.

And if she did leave acting behind, the actress would have plenty of things to keep her busy. "I would write, still," she said. "I write for Esquire (magazine) and writing makes me happy. I would take care of my kids and my goats. That's about it. Bake. Throw my internet in the lake."

Not everyone had sympathy for Parker. New York magazine doesn't feel the actress is dissed online, writing, "If she thinks she?s got it bad, she should look at the vitriol Amanda Palmer swallows every day ... or the racism that erupts in the comments section of virtually any news story about Michelle Obama."
