Political solution not military required to resolve Kashmir issue Imran Khan

Laos News.Net Wednesday 19th December, 2012

"A delay in resolution of the long-running dispute has kept the people of India and Pakistan hostage and it is proving to be a big hurdle to progress and prosperity in the region," The Dawn quoted Khan, as saying.

"We are concerned over the plight and blood-letting in Kashmir. We support withdrawal of Indian forces from Kashmir and a political solution to the problem," he added.

Khan said his party was opposed to military solution to political problems. He added that the present leaderships in both India and Pakistan were not capable of taking big decisions like the Kashmir dispute.

He further vowed to take solid steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of Kashmiris, if his party comes to power.

Khan said the subcontinent was among the most poverty-stricken regions in the world and this could be tackled only if there was peace in the region. But, he said, peace could not be restored without resolving the Kashmir dispute. (ANI)
