Does the name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta sound familiar? If it does, then that?s quite surprising. This is the actual name of the famous, the striking, the one and only ?Lady Gaga.? One must wonder where such a uniquely tasted lady and exquisite artist come about from, and how she became an artist known to all ages. For such a mystery to be solved, one must go down memory lane.
She was born in Yonkers, New York, where she attended a private Catholic girl?s school.? ?Quite surprising, huh? Sophomore Nabeel Mirza states, ?This surprised me because she?s Lady Gaga, and her being innocent is unexpected.? Being talented in music, she wrote her first piano ballad at age 13, and won early entrance into a prestigious college, the Tisch School for the performing arts.
She thirsted to discover herself, so she ditched school and went to New York?s Lower East Side music as a naive, educated girl. She desired a taste of freedom and independence. ?I went against all I was brought up to be; I moved out of home, wouldn?t take any help from my parents [her internet entrepreneur dad and his business partner wife], and supported myself with waitressing jobs and stripping,? she said. ?I discovered a real personal freedom through it.?
At 20, she wrote hits for many famous artists, such as the Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears.
Producer Rob Fusari was the one that gave her the well, known nickname Lady Gaga after Queen Freddie Mercury?s hit ?Radio Ga Ga?. He did this because he though Lady Gaga?s voice sounded like hers. Many fans support this, as junior Urvashi Nath states, ?Going Gaga was the best move for her.?
A lot of mainstream didn?t know exactly how to react to Lady Gaga. ?A lot of record labels thought I was too theatrical,? she said. ?Then, when I auditioned for stage musicals, the producers said I was too pop.?
Akon then came to the rescue and signed her to his label Kon Live in association with Interscope. There she worked as a songwriter and planned her own recording career.
This is where she hit the road of fame with her hit single ?Just Dance? in April, 2008 and the album The Fame in August of the same year. ?Just Dance? became number one on Billboard Hot 100 single chart in January, 2009. After that, ?Poker? Face? became an even bigger hit.
For many fans, this was something a lot of people didn?t think of. And other obsessed fans did as Gensis Brendia did, ?I looked up Lady Gaga because she?s one of my favorite artists.?
