Indonesia a step closer to renewable energy

Kazakhstan News.Net Sunday 4th November, 2012

Two companies owned by the state, LEN Industri and Pertamina, have been working together to build a solar cell production plant in Bandung, which is only a few hours from the capital, Jakarta.

Antara news agency has reported that plant's construction should start around December of this year.

The new plant is expected to produce solar cells with a total capacity of 60 MWatts.

Indonesia does not currently have a renewable energy industry.

A presidential regulation issued in 2006 said that solar energy should account for between 0.2 and 0.3 precent of national energy usage by 2025; the equivalent of 1,000 megawatts per hour.
